International Gay & Lesbian Aquatics

IGLA's mission is to promote participation in aquatic sports among lesbians and gay men and friends of our community; and to ensure maintenance of the highest international standards for all Gay Games and IGLA Championships.Aquatics competitors at Gay Games II in San Francisco, wanting to keep the competitive and festive spirit alive, created the idea for IGLA. San Diego hosted the first meet in 1987. The name International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics, i.e. IGLA, was selected in the summer of 1987 at the Northwest Gay and Lesbian Sports Festival.
IGLA representatives formally established a mission, an executive board and bylaws at Gay Games III in Vancouver in 1990.
To date, IGLA championships have been held in San Diego (1987 and 1988), Vancouver (1989), Los Angeles (1991), Seattle (1992), Chicago (1993), Montreal (1995), Washington, D.C. (1996), San Diego (1997), Atlanta (1999), Paris (2000), Toronto (2001), San Francisco (2003), Ft Lauderdale (2004), Atlanta (2005), Paris (2007), Washington, DC (2008), and Copenhagen (2009). The next IGLA championships will be held in Cologne, Germany (2010).

New England Masters Swimming, originally founded in 1979, has grown from just a handful of small teams in the area to over 60 teams in the past two decades. Our swimmers range in ability from having never swum a stroke to Olympic Trial qualifiers. All of them have shared the same passion for swimming, friendship and competition, a legacy that has led to one of the most recognized swimming organizations in the country. -

Pride Sports Boston (PSB) fosters unity among athletic organizations that are inclusive of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people, those questioning their sexuality, and heterosexual allies. In addition, PrideSports Boston promotes the concept of GLBTS athletics and fellowship, recreation and the enjoyment of athletics with and beyond the Boston area GLBTS community. South End Fitness Center

The South End Fitness Center (SEFC) is different from other health and fitness centers. We are one of a variety of preventative health services provided by the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC). In addition, we have special partnerships with Boston Medical Center and local non-profit organizations. SEFC is a valuable community resource, reaching out to all individuals, regardless of their level of income, education, or experience in fitness and exercise. Our dedication and commitment to a "harassment-free environment" ensures that a diverse group of members can enjoy our wellness facility comfortably as they reach their fitness goals.
